For the 2023 NWSL Challenge Cup, Pandemonium will be participating in the NWSL supporters initiative ACTS: Activating Communities Through Support. Last year, we raised over $1000 for the LA Chapter of Black & Pink, a prison abolitionist organization dedicated to abolishing the criminal punishment system and liberating LGBTQIA2S+ people and people living with HIV/AIDS who are affected by that system through advocacy, support, and organizing.
We chose Black & Pink as we want to be anti-racist with our actions and this abolitionist organization works toward our goals of fighting racism in our community. The American criminal punishment system disproportionately persecutes Black and Brown individuals at a higher rate. These racial disparities are rooted in a history of oppression and racism and supporting this organization helps it take the steps to abolish the system.
Black & Pink was founded in 2005 with the local chapter being established in 2019. Organization has led advocacy efforts including stopping Massachusetts incarcerated folks being charged for their own incarceration, support work including pen pal programs and helping formerly incarcerated folks with the creation of the Lydon House.
Keep an eye out on Pandemonium socials for further information on the initiative and donation process! We appreciate any and all donations as well as amplifying messages on social media. We will be donating $$$ per goal in an Angel City FC match during this 2023 Challenge Cup.
