The Rose City Riveters are proud to announce that the beneficiary of this year's NWSL ACTS fundraiser will be Equitable Giving Circle! Make a pledge of any size and you will be prompted to complete your donation at the end of the NWSL 2023 Challenge Cup. Pledges are calculated as $$ per Thorns goal scored throughout the tournament.
Projects from EGC include a CSA/food box program, housing support, community wellness, and more. They currently support over 350 households each week, and are looking to expand their impact. Each 18lb produce box costs the organization $35 with delivery, and our dollars can help them expand this service.
You can learn more on their website, and donations can be directed to any of these specific areas, or general support for the organization.
EGC and their purpose are best described in their own words: "Equity is not uniform. Every community has different needs. Equitable Giving Circle was created to address this fact. So often, giving between the nonprofit community and those who need support is transactional. The processes and proof can sometimes feel prohibitive and take too much time. We are a community of people committed to creating peer-led, community-funded, transformational change. Our work aims to build immediate and increased equity throughout Portland's BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities through a combination of fund development and network building opportunities that center economic equity."
The ACTS Challenge Cup fundraiser began in 2020 during the original Challenge Cup competition, with an aim to support Native communities in the area of the competition-- Salt Lake City, Utah. This project continues annually to support Black communities in each team's home market.
