Chicago Local 134, Red Line SG, and Black Fires have chosen Urban Growers Collective for this year's Challenge Cup charity.
Urban Growers Collective is a non-profit co-founded by Laurell Sims and Erika Allen in the fall of 2017. Working closely with community partners, our approach is to demonstrate the development of community-based food systems and to support communities in developing systems of their own where food is grown, prepared, and distributed within the community itself.
UGC operates 8 urban farms on 11 acres of land, predominantly located on Chicago's south side These farms are production-oriented, but also offer opportunities for staff-led education, training, leadership development, and food distribution.
Pledge $1 or more per Red Stars goal during the 2022 Challenge Cup, and at the end of the tournament you'll make a donation directly to Urban Growers Collective. Say you pledge $5 and the Red Stars score 7 goals, you'll donate $35. It couldn't be easier to support the team AND a wonderful Chicago organization.
