Northern Guard Supporters, the independent supporters of Detroit City
FC, are happy to be partnering with the Ruth Ellis
Center for year three of Prideraiser.
Why are we partnering with the Ruth Ellis Center?
Nationwide, LGBTQ youth have a 120% higher risk of homelessness than
their peers.
Here in Detroit, The Ruth Ellis Center provides short and long-term
residential safe space and support services for runaway, homeless and at-risk
lesbian, gay, bi-attractional, transgender, and questioning youth. It is a
critical resource for the youth of Detroit/Highland Park/Hamtramck and
surrounding suburbs.
Earlier this year, the Ruth Ellis Center announced an expansion of their
incredible work with a new housing
initiative. This project will add over 40 new units in
Detroit that will provide stabile, subsidized housing and support for LGBTQ
youth. It is a critical and necessary expansion of their work and we’re
thrilled to help draw attention and resources to this incredible work the Ruth
Ellis Center is doing in our community.
This year, we are pledging against ALL DCFC goals in the month of June
(home and away). Barring any yet-to-be-announced friendlies, this means that
there are 7 matches. Yes, one of them is FC Indiana!
We’re asking you to join us in pledging some cash $$/goal to support this
critical LGBTQ resource in our community. Over the last two seasons, y’all
have pledged over $17,000 to Ruth Ellis Center! Let’s make 2019 yet another
amazing summer of love and support between NGS and Ruth Ellis Center!
