The Grand Rapids Pride Center (GRPC) since 1988 has been empowering the LGBTQ
community in Grand Rapids and West Michigan. Turning 30 in 2018, GRPC offers
10 different social support groups, including Youth, Young Adult, Parents,
Family, Menâs, Womenâs, Own Your Gender, Cross-Dresser, and our new Queer &
Trans Youth of Color group.
In addition to their social and support groups, GRPC offers study areas and
access to educational materials for any member of our community, creating safe
spaces for those who may not have one. There are also several events organized
by GRPC during the year, including Transgender Day of Remembrance and
Transgender Day of Visibility, health service and advocacy events, which allow
members of the LGBTQ community and the community at large to come out, be
present, and represent an inclusive and diverse Grand Rapids community.
Why is the Grand Army supporting the GR Pride Center?
Every service that the GR Pride Center provides to the community is free of
charge, so they operate on a very tight budget. Supporting the GR Pride Center
means supporting our community. We all have friends, neighbors, co-workers,
etc. who are members of the LGBT community. Some of those individuals may not
be out yet. In addition to supporting our club, we want to be a group that is
proactively inclusive!
The Grand Army is counting all GRFC goals scored during home matches during
the month of June, five menâs games and two womenâs games. Make a per-goal
pledge now, at the end of June after the final goal total, make your donation
to the GR Pride Center.
